December has been jam packed full with admin and meetings. As always with time at home we thought we were looking forward to a quiet December but we haven't had chance to draw breath!

Tina and Charlotte have been busy preparing a module in devised theatre making for the National Centre for Circus Arts 2nd year degree students which they will be teaching from January onwards.

Charlotte did a talk for the BTEC/LYC students for which we just had some lovely feedback from the team at the national centre for circus arts: “I have heard nothing but positive feedback from everyone that came and one of the students have said, “The talk was one of the most invaluable talks I have ever been in, it has helped me so much”.

Alex is working with Marcello Magni and Kathryn Hunter consulting and helping plan for ‘Out of Blixen’ and is also consulting for The Print Room in Notting Hill.

Alex has also been in charge of a lot of packing: We’ve packed up and sent the Tipping Point equipment off to Australia, where we will be performing Tipping Point as part of Sydney festival. We've found a new storage place and we're moving next week. And as always there is Ockham's equipment maintenance.

We have also been doing some well needed body maintenance seeing our trusted physios and wonderful cranial sacral osteopath.

Have a merry Christmas and a happy new year everyone!!!!

This month Tina and Ali went to Circa Festival in Auch to present ideas for our next Ockham's Razor project. They had some lovely feedback and made exciting new connections. Amongst all the networking they also managed to catch some shows, most notably our beloved Luke Horley (you may remember him from Not Until We Are Lost) in collectif Malunées latest project.

Charlotte and Alex had another great week up in Manchester working with the young performers from Contact Theatre and The Factory as part of Sharing the Stage with the support of Dance Manchester.  It's been an inspiring week surrounded by the young peoples commitment, trust and connection - what a lovely group, we hope to be back again.

We had a fantastic Edinburgh, great audiences and reviews and to top it all Tipping Point won the Total Theatre and Jacksons Lane Circus Award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016.

The Tipping Point team celebrate their success.

We had a little celebration welcoming Artistic Directors Tina and Charlotte back to performing in the Triple Bill. We had two lovely runs of the show with the original team joined by our associate artist Steve Ryan.

First run took us to the Pavillion Theatre in Worthing by the sea and then we visited Gravity Fields Festival in Grantham performing in St.Wulframs church. Two unique spaces to perform in.

Come and say hello!

The vans are neatly packed with three shows using Alex’s phenomenal Tetris skills and we are back on the road.

Sat 2 July, Tipping Point was having its outdoor premiere at Hat Fair Winchester. We managed to brave the showers and did the show in a little sunny interval. The silhouettes of the performers looked stunning against the evening sky.

Tina popped in to the ISAN (International Street Arts Network) breakfast at Winchester University the next day and met some great people followed by a catch up with Angus McKechnie enjoying the sunny Sunday.

Then we took Every Action and Arc to Teatro Astra as part of Teatro a Corte festival in Torino, Italy Sat 9 & Sun 10 July. It was our first time in Italy and we absolutely loved it! Tina was invited  to visit the school Vertigo in Grugliasco and joined the jury for the international prize ‘checkpoint circus’.

Straight from Torino we revisited one of our favourite festivals in Holland

Deventer Op Stelten with Tower & Pole, Alex and Telma's duet from Not Until We Are Lost. We counted audiences of around 6000, an amazing experience.

And now for another first we are off to Teatro da Didascalia, Portugal for a performance of Tipping Point on 15 July www.teatrodadidascalia.com

We had a little breather at the beginning of the month taking a well deserved rest. Well…even in Mallorca one can find a tree to rig a rope from….

Back from holiday it was straight into meetings and rehearsals for our Triple Bill, getting ready to take it on the road again.

The end of June saw Charlotte in a muddy field in Glastonbury directing our very own Sophie Postlethwaite's new inimitable walkabout show Glastonbury Whispers.

Tipping Point continues to tour. This month we are taking the show to Dance City, Newcastle (6-7 May), The Corn Exchange, Cambridge (13-15 May), Lawrence Batley Theatre, West Yorkshire (19-20 May) and Ageas Salisbury International Arts Festival (30 May) Also we managed to get some meetings in to hatch plans for future shows. Exciting!

And look, we're on the cover of the Deventer Festival Brochure, with a picture of Alex and Telma in the Not Until We Are Lost tower (performing the Tower & Pole extract in July at this lovely festival).

April has been a very busy month for Ockham's Razor performing, teaching, networking, consulting and directing.

Performance news:

'Tipping Point' continues to tour. This month we took the show to The Rose Theatre, Kingston and Artsdepot as part of Roundhouse Circus Fest. Thank you to everyone who came along and gave us such a warm welcome back to London. Click here for up-coming performance dates

Also as part of Roundhouse Circus Fest Charlotte and Tina performed in 'MES: Me, Mother' - we are very proud to have been a part of the beginning of this exciting project.

Here's a link to a picture gallery:

At the beginning of the month Tina taught a 3 day corde lisse Master class at Circushouse Manchester. Neil from Circushouse Manchester made a lovely little film about it:

Also in Manchester alongside The Contact Theatre Charlotte and Grania continued our Sharing the Stage youth project, training an ensemble of performers in aerial and physical theatre.

Charlotte also went to Bristol to give a talk about the company's process as part of Circomedia's upcoming MA in Directing for Circus.

Our Producer Ali King gave a talk about our work at Canvas Lite, a networking event as part of Circus Fest.

Tina and Holly represented Ockham's Razor at 'De Geveugelde Stad Ieper' and Tina went on to the Circostrada fresh circus conference in la Villette, Paris. So lovely to meet up with old and new friends and hatch some exciting plans for the future. Watch this space!

Alex has had a great time consulting on the flying elements of A Midsummer Night's Dream, Emma Rice's first production for Shakespeare's Globe which opens 6 May and runs until 11 September.

Festival season approaches and Charlotte is directing Sophie Postelthwaite's new show Glastonbury Whispers, a tour through the myths and legends of the festival. Look out for them both in the circus and theatre field.

We've released our new promo for Tipping Point.

We've taken Tipping Point to Wales this month, always a pleasure to be in this part of t he country.

Tipping Point at the London International Mime Festival has been a sold-out success. We's had lots of great feedback, we're really excited to be taking it out on tour - see dates here.

Here's what the press had to say.

 Lyn Gardner, The Guardian ****
Ockham’s Razor push themselves to the limit in a terrific show that wields lethal-looking poles to blend circus acrobatics, playground games and trust exercises.”

Rachel Elderkin, The Stage ****
Their feats are, without question, impressive - exhilarating to watch, both thrilling and nerve-racking - a spellbinding performance.”

Lyndsey Winship, Evening Standard ****
“There's something magical about British aerial theatre group Ockham’s Razor.”

Donald Hutera, The Times ***
“Tipping Point strikes an engaging and always intelligent balance between playful and poetic - this is a class act.”

Mary Nguyen, London Theatre 1 ****
This pulsating performance will make you want to get off your seat, join in with the performers, or hit the gym. Many will gasp and hold on to their breath as they watch these fearless performers”

The Upcoming *****
“A highlight of the London International Mime Festival, Tipping Point is a masterful display of artistic athleticism and vertical ballet. This striking production is inspiring and transports the spectator into an Olympic fairy-tale with which they feel impelled to join in.”

Maddy Costa, Exeunt Magazine
“Tipping Point inspires pleasure in seeing the ways in which the performers give each other the gift of flight, a sharp thrill in their bold acceptance of risk, an intellectual admiration for the ways in which they equate balance with tension.”

Michael Spring, Bargain Theatreland
Circus skills are here in abundance, but this is more than a circus show. It is about ideas as much as qualities like strength, or balance, and has a quite unique presence, something you feel pleased to have been part of.”
